Well, “The Site” Thought There Wouldn’t Be Any Future-dated Stupidity that Would Deserve Such Attention, But Hey, It’s #Newson6!

news on 6 is a bunch of idiots...

Tulsa Firefighter Shares [a very bizarre] History Behind Firepoles [sic].

This is going to be regularly updated throughout the day, but here’s just the amuse-gueule to get this party started…about Firemen and their poles:

a beautiful example of man.
Seriously…and when “The Site” says that now it means “not seriously” because that’s the way the world works now, but this is seriously a better representation of Black History Month as it pertains to fire departments than the bullshit you all posted on Channel 6 News. #Truth. #Allegedly. #2009 #TulsaHottestFireFighters #Calendar

The story already sounds like a hoot. How in God’s name can News on 6 make it any better?

They can display a white guys photo right in the middle of the “Celebration of Black History Month” while creating something quite comparable to say a byline such as this: Black Men Help Advance Medicine When Used in the Tuskegee Experiments.

Let’s celebrate that for Black History Month because that makes total sense…think about it this way, first, dead people vote in Chicago; secondly, white guy experiments on the all-Black fire company with a new idea and found that it worked. Yay! Now that we know that it works, and it is relatively safe…we can now use it in all of the white fire departments across the city of Chicago.

Wake the fuck up for real. Woke doesn’t mean you are awake; it means that you are an idiot.

Tulsa Firefighter Shares History Behind Firepoles [sic]

TULSA, Oklahoma –

An African American firefighter played a key role in developing a staple of the fire station — the fireman’s pole.

In honor of Black History Month, News On 6 spoke with a fireman and shared the history.

In the 1900s, fire stations were two or three stories. Staircases and sliding chutes were common but they weren’t always fast.

Captain David B. Kenyon of Chicago’s all-black Engine Company No. 21, used a wooden pole to get downstairs.

To be clear, Firemen are bad-ass; they are only one-of-a-handful of the bureaucrats that are truly to be respected for their service. Just like that one person said, “No one ever wrote a song called ‘Fuck the Firemen.’” Oh, but my main point was, that this guy was probably telling the full story, but News on 6 conveniently edited him into short soundbites for their own exploitative purposes.

“[He] set the pole down up straight and he slid down it. Pretty unusual concept but he got down to the firetruck a lot faster than everyone who was going down the spiral staircase,” said Fredrick Owens, Tulsa Fire Department.

The all-Black station created the concept that would become popular across the fire community nationwide.

“So, the fire chief in 1880 looked at it and was like, ‘we need to incorporate this in all our fire stations that are two stories or higher,’” said Owens.

We also figured out a lot by handing out diseased blankets and by lying to people about giving a group of men a placebo so that we could watch them slowly suffer and die from an STD…does that make it okay…in the sense that we should celebrate it? (Jus’ askin’ 4 a Friend…you know.)

142 years later, four fire stations in Tulsa still use the sliding poles.

“Here we are 2020. Here’s a pole and it’s still heavily utilized,” said Owens.

Owens said it not only helps the firefighters respond quickly to give help to those who need it, but for him, it’s a reminder of the lasting impact of Black excellence.

“It does give you a sense of pride that, you know, my ancestors had a hand in the fire service with a very important tool,” said Owens.

As many fire stations have become one story and for safety concerns, the fire pole is phasing out.

Owens said he thinks the history will always be there.

Side note: “The Site” wonders if everyone at Newson6.com graduated from OSU’s alleged school of journalism, which appears to be rather lacking; if not a complete mirage for what is truly a school of propagandism. A mouthpiece, if you will, for the bureaucratic oligarchy that created it.
